Reflections by Mother Leslie

Beloved People of St. Martin’s,
The Program Year at St. Martin’s begins anew with a renewed sense of energy and excitement this year, and I can’t wait to see you all here this weekend!

We will have the United Thank Offering Ingathering at all three services this weekend. Our first 10:30 service went off without a hitch last week, and I want to express my deepest appreciation to Music Director Denise Marsh for the excellent hymn sing she organized before the 10:30 service.

This week we will commission the new and returning Sunday school teachers at the start of the 10:30 service. We will also have our first Adult Christian Education forum of the program year, and we will start with a walking tour of the artwork of St. Martin’s especially the stained glass windows and the Chapel ceiling and tau cross. It should be wonderful! Pastor Sally and I will be leading ACE this year.

After the 10:30 service ends, please stay (or come back if you attend the 505 or the 8:00 services) for our monthly brunch Sunday, produced by Julia Krelo, as well as the Overview session of our new Invite Welcome Connect ministry. It would warm my heart to see as many St. Martians here as possible to learn about this new understanding of the relational aspect of being church mindfully in the 21st century. Childcare will be provided! Come join us as this new year begins!

In Christ,
Leslie+

PS– Several people wanted to learn more about the hunger statistics I cited in my sermon last Sunday. They can be found in an in-depth report called the Missouri Hunger Atlas 2016 from the University of Missouri– just click  below.
