The Rev. Leslie Scoopmire
When you first step into St. Martin’s, you will find a warm welcoming community ready to invite you to share in our faith journey. Our greeters will meet you shortly after you walk through the front doors and help you navigate your way and answer any questions you may have. As you enter the worship service, an usher will give you a worship booklet. We use these booklets to follow along in the service.
All of our services are based on the Book of Common Prayer and considered “liturgical” which provides a stable format for our worship service. Some of our services include times of standing, kneeling, sitting and singing which could feel a bit confusing to first-time visitors, but our worship bulletin is a simple guide to help you follow along. Each service includes prayer, Bible readings, sermons and communion.
We offer different styles of worship depending on which specific service you attend. Saturday evening is an informal mellow, come-as-you-are, gospel-focused worship. The Sunday services are more traditional with the early service being simply spoken. The 10:15 am service includes music, usually from the St. Martin’s choir, occasionally the Handbell Choir, Youth Ensemble and/or guest musicians also participate. A “Children’s Worship” service runs concurrently with the 10:15 service.
If you have children ages 3 and under, they can go in our newly-designed nursery during the service, or they can stay with you. In the front-right area of the sanctuary is a “soft space” designed for toddlers and their families to experience worship together, or children can sit with you anywhere you are comfortable. Older children, ages 3-11 will meet a teacher with a children’s cross, waiting to guide them to a Children’s Worship and Sunday School time called “Spark!” They will depart the Sanctuary as a group and return to their families before the Holy Eucharist.

Sundays: 8:00 am and 10:15 am
The 8:00 service celebrates Holy Communion each week as a spoken service with no worship music.
The 10:15 service offers Holy Communion with worship music from our vocal, handbell, children’s and youth choirs. During this service, children have the opportunity to participate in their own Children’s Worship program during the service. They will rejoin their families in church just before communion.
About Us
St. Martin’s Episcopal Church began as a mission church in West County back in 1965, when some St. Louisans considered this part of the region to be a long way out. Back then, we sat surrounded by lots of empty land.
Now we welcome parishioners from many surrounding communities, including Ellisville, Wildwood, Ballwin, Chesterfield, Manchester, and Town & Country. We even draw members from as “far” as St. Charles County and downtown St. Louis.
Whoever you are, whatever your background, and wherever you are in your faith journey, we welcome you at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church.
