Adult Forum – The David Stories
This Sunday, September 16 we will continue our Adult Christian Formation Forum with “The David Stories” presented by Mary Richardson. She will lead us in a look at the intriguing stories of David from the Hebrew Scriptures and what they mean for us today.
Next week on September 23 we will begin a two-part series on “Intentional Segregation: How the Government Forced Us Apart” presented by Kurt Greenbaum.
- Why do people live in racially segregated communities in so many cities like St. Louis? Would it surprise you to know that these housing patterns are the lingering effect of explicit government policies, actions and laws? Did you know these policies forced African Americans into substandard housing, separated communities by race and prevented minorities from accumulating wealth over generations? Were you aware these explicit policies continued for decades after the Supreme Court decided a St. Louis case banning race restrictions on housing in 1948? Explore this “forgotten” history of the United States — and discuss the implications for us as Christians — in a two-part forum based on Richard Rothstein’s book, “The Color of Law.”
