Celebrating 65 Years of Touching Lives with Hope and Healing
What is a “Moment in Time”?
For the chaplains of Episcopal City Mission, a moment in time is the space in which relationships are formed with children in detention. It is the opportunity to hear a story, offer support, or invite a new perspective.
For the volunteers who participate in ECM’s ministry during the holidays and at monthly birthday parties, it is the opportunity to show children they are so much more than their worst mistake, that they are beloved children of God who are not forgotten.
For the children we serve, a Moment in Time can be brief.
It can be simple. And it can change everything!
Episcopal City Mission invites you to celebrate our 65th anniversary of life-changing ministry at this year’s Gala fundraiser:
Greenbriar Hills Country Club | Wednesday, October 23, 2019 | 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
All proceeds benefit Episcopal City Mission.
We’re pleased to announce this year’s Guest Speaker is Dr. Thomas Beckner, a nationally recognized authority on correctional chaplaincy who has served in a variety of roles in the criminal justice arena over the past 30 years. Dr. Beckner is the author of “Correctional Chaplains: Keepers of the Cloak”, an important book for chaplains both professional and lay, as well as anyone considering serving in any capacity in the corrections field. The book is highly endorsed by leaders in Criminal Justice, Correctional Services Agencies, Educators, and Prison Chaplains.
The evening will begin with a cocktail reception, followed by a sumptuous three-course sit-down dinner, live and silent auctions and a jewelry raffle. Music for your enjoyment will be provided by UMSL Jazz Ensemble. Consider getting together a table of friends for a fun evening! Tickets are $135 per person. Reservations may be made by contacting the ECM office by Oct. 17 (314-436-3545 or firstname.lastname@example.org). This year’s raffle item is a pair of blue sapphire and diamond earrings sponsored by The Diamond Shop in Clayton, MO. Raffle tickets are $10 each/3 for $25 and are available on Sundays from ECM Board members or from the ECM office.
ECM Celebrates 65th Anniversary of ministry with children in the Juvenile Justice System!
Episcopal City Mission (ECM) is a 501c3 organization with roots dating back to 1894. Our mission since 1954 has been to provide chaplains to young people in St. Louis City and County Detention Centers. In 2017, we revised our mission statement to “Chaplaincy providing support, hope, and healing to children in the juvenile justice system” to reflect ECM’s expansion of providing chaplaincy services to children in the Division of Youth Services (the state agency charged with the care and treatment of delinquent youths committed to its custody by juvenile courts.) ECM chaplains provide non-denominational spiritual care and programming to young people in the Juvenile Justice System. Attendance at all ECM programs is voluntary. ECM chaplains do not evangelize or try to change a child’s basic faith orientation. Learn more about ECM at www.ecitymission.org
