On September 15, 2018 at 11 AM, Advent Church will host a presentation by Ann Say and the Rev. William Say (retired ELCA pastor) about their program supporting refugees in the Kansas City, Once We Were Refugees.

The Dismantling Racism Commission organizes our annual celebration of the life and ministry of the Rev. Absalom Jones, the first African American ordained as priest in the US. And stepping outside the box this year, they’ve designed a morning program for children and parents or grandparents.

Gun Violence: Caring for Victims, the Community and Ourselves

Gun Violence: Caring for victims, the community and ourselves. The seminar will include presentations on: the church’s response to gun violence; psychological first aid for gun violence victims and the survivors of suicide; the impact of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and anticipatory mourning in “at risk” communities; and forgiveness and reconciliation in the context of traumatic loss.

Opening the Red Doors: What brought us in, will bring others

Diocesan Leadership Conference: Saturday, March 3 at St. Francis, Eureka. “Opening the Red Doors: What brought us in, will bring others in, too” is the theme of the 2018 Diocesan Leadership Conference presented by the Standing Committee.

Dismantling Racism Training in August and September

Two Dismantling Racism classes are now scheduled to be held at St. Peter’s Church in Ladue and Christ Church in Cape Girardeau. There is no cost for this two-day training which includes lunch and beverages and snacks, but registration is required.

What is the Reality of Hunger?

The Diocesan Hunger Task Force is cooperating with Empower Missouri to publicize a Jewish response to Hunger called, “This is Hunger” is being offered in St. Louis July 5-7.

Book Study Meets On Wednesday

Our clergy, Jon and Emily, will lead a new book study for two evenings this summer. We will read and discuss Presiding Bishop Michael Curry’s book titled, “Following the Way of Jesus.” See Jon or Emily, or stop by the office for a copy of the book and come to one or both sessions!

Women’s Bible Study

The Women’s Bible Study group continues to meet through the end of May. The final meeting of this term will be on May 30. The group will take a break over summer and resume in September.

Singers Of All Ages!!

Singers of all ages from 4th grade and up are invited to attend the St. Louis Course on July 17-23 at Toddhall Retreat Center.

Book Study

Father Jon will lead a book study on Hallelujah Anyway. The group will meet on Thursday, May 25 and June 1, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Get your copy of the book and join us for enlightening discussion!

Dismantling Racism

The Dismantling Racism Commission offers a two-day training seminar at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Ladue, MO on May 31 – June 1, 2017.

Book Club

The Book Club meets on April 25 at 7:00 p.m. in the Packwood Library. This month the group will discuss “Paris is Always a Good Idea” by Nicolas Barreau. Newcomers are always welcome!
