This Sunday, May 20 is Pentecost Sunday, and St. Martin’s music program has planned several ways to help the church celebrate! The hand bell choir will play a lovely prelude: Dona Nobis Pacem on hand chimes and Seek Ye First on hand bells. The choir will sing Come Now, Spirit of God by Joseph Martin and we’ll be joined by Joy Floyd on her lovely flute. Joy will also play oboe descants with our hymns. During communion the choir will lead everyone in singing Spirituals from our LEVAS hymnal: Let it breathe on me and I’m gonna sing when the Spirit says sing!
May 27 is Trinity Sunday and the choir will sing David Haas’ song: This Day God gives me. It will be the choir’s final Sunday to sing until September.
During the summer months I invite any singers or instrumentalists to join me in providing music for the 10:15 worship service. We also will continue to sing the Psalms using the same Simplified Anglican Chant each Sunday, making each Psalm come alive.
CALLING ALL MUSIC LOVERS: We are excited to announce that we will have a St. Martin’s Music Festival in the fall. This will involve any musicians in our church and we also hope to invite individuals and choirs from surrounding churches to join us in celebrating all kinds of music. So tune your musical ears, and keep watching for more information in the coming weeks!
