For the Easter season, the choir loft in the sanctuary has been adorned with an original painting by Mary Drastal. She described the process of painting it as follows:
My concept for the painting has to do with how I feel every year during Lent and Holy Week. I am always aware of profound sadness as Good Friday approaches, wondering: “What could have been if Christ had lived; what did the world lose when Christ was crucified?” As Easter draws near, I feel a tremendous sense of joy. My sadness gives way to amazement as I contemplate the resurrection. I wanted to create a painting that expressed my joy as I contemplated Jesus’ empty tomb.
Thank you Mary for sharing this beautiful painting with all of us!
